Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Eweala, once again, continue to charter the glass ceiling internationally in various positions that women, African or black person never venture into. The most recent of such position is the World Trade Organization, in Geneva, Switzerland.
World Trade Organization was established in 1965, it has a membership of 64 Countries, representing 98% of World trade. Over 20 Countries are currently seeking to join the organization as an international trade body.
The (WTO) deals with global rules of trade between nations. The body main function is to ensure unhampered free flow of trade. The fundamental principles that form the foundation of the organization is multilateral trading system.
In 2019, Okonjo-Iweala was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She was also conferred High National Honors from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and the Republic of Liberia. She is also the recipient of Nigeria’s Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR)[71]. Other honors include:
